August 2017

Dear 4th Graders,

Welcome to our TEAM!  My name is Mrs. Conrad and I am excited to be your teacher.  I absolutely love teaching and am thrilled about the school year ahead!

I grew up on a family farm and spent a lot of time outside playing, riding horses, and working.  I even learned how to drive a tractor and haul hay!  As the daughter of teachers, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher myself.  I attended Western Oregon University and taught a year in the Seaside School District before becoming a Hopkins Hawk.  I can’t believe this is the beginning of my 15th year of teaching!

I’d love to introduce my family to you.  I’ve been married to my husband, Michael, for 12 years and our favorite people in the entire world are our eight-year-old red-headed daughter, Elliana, and our five-year-old named Landon.  Ellie loves to ride her bike, draw, read, play outside, and has an imagination that makes me laugh every day.  It’s crazy for me to believe that she is starting third grade in Newberg this year!  Landon is a big happy boy who has a contagious laugh and adores his big sister when he's not terrorizing her room.  He is starting kindergarten this year.  We also have two miniature dachshunds named Max and Lizzie.  In my spare time (ha ha, what spare time?), I enjoy reading and working in our yard.   I also love to hike and travel.  Our favorite places to visit in Oregon are the coast and the Bend area.

Over the summer, I loved being able to spend so much time with my kids.  We went to the beach and spent a lot of time in the back yard playing and at the library.  I have had a pen pal from Germany since I was a 4th grader and her family spent three weeks visiting us this August, which was so special!  The summer has gone quickly, but I hope that you are as excited to begin the new school year as I am.  My passion is teaching and I love making school fun.  I want this to be a special year for you and you need to start getting excited because we are going to have a fabulous year!

Go Hopkins Hawks!
