Kate Kelleher
Hopkins School Counselor

At Hopkins, we have worked to develop a School-Wide Counseling Program that is implemented within classroom lessons and school-wide supports.

One area of our program includes classroom lessons from the Committee for Children Curriculum.  Second Steps lessons(Grades K-2) focus on four areas:  Skills for Learning, Emotional Management, Impulse Control and Problem Solving.   The Steps to Respect Program (Grades 3-5) focuses on Friendship Skills and Bullying Prevention.

Kelso's Wheel teaches Problem Solving Strategies that are reinforced in classrooms. (Grades 1-5)

Asset Builders are a group of specially trained 5th grade students who work with younger students during their lunch/recesses to build assets by solving problems and modeling positive behaviors.
